Moon Chased: The Great Tear Duet – Book 1 by Joey Kincaid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Joey Kincaid’s “Moon Chased” takes readers on a dark and thrilling journey into a world teeming with secrets, lies, and mystical creatures.
Both characters start this journey relatively sheltered from the outside world.
Alex is thrust into a reality where the veil of illusion lifts, revealing a world filled with creatures and truths he never imagined. His transformation from a confused, scared individual to a confident Alpha is both compelling and inspiring. However, Alex’s character can be somewhat confusing at times, despite the detailed backstory provided at the beginning.
Vera’s character resonated with me deeply. Raised to protect Prince Viccar, she longs for freedom beyond the confines of her luxurious prison. The realistic portrayal of her thoughts and struggles adds depth to her character, making her journey of finding strength and freedom truly captivating. She goes through some pretty heavy trauma to find her freedom.
The slow burn romance between Alex and Vera adds a beautiful layer to the plot, perfectly complemented by the action, adventure, and curiosity surrounding them.
Kincaid’s world-building deserves special mention. The inclusion of elves, orcs, dire wolves, witches, demons, and werewolves creates a rich, immersive world. Despite the initial slow start, the effort put into establishing this world pays off as the story progresses.
If you enjoy well-developed characters, a richly built world, and a story that balances action with intense emotional depth, this book is for you
