Massacre Monday by Kitty King — Blood, Betrayal, and A Game You Don’t Want to Lose

I was lucky enough to get both the ARC and ALC for Massacre Monday by Kitty King, and let me just say… I did not know what I was walking into. Dark college romance readers, primal play fans, and cultish secret society lovers — this one’s for you.

The Premise
On Massacre Monday, the sorority girls run. If they’re caught… they’re bought.
Yeah, you read that right. This isn’t your average college party scene. It’s a ritualistic, primal hunt hosted by a secret society where being the strongest, fastest, or smartest might buy you a chance at freedom. If not? You belong to your hunter.

And our girl? She’s Sigma’s Savior — fierce, bold, and fighting not just for herself, but for the Lunar Chalice and everything it represents.

Kitty King’s Writing
This was my first Kitty King book, and she hooked me from the first chapter. Her writing is dark, sharp, and drenched in atmosphere. You could literally feel the campus’s eerie energy, the tension crackling between the characters, and the pulse of danger chasing you through every scene.

I’ll absolutely be diving into her other books because if she builds worlds like this one, I need to be in them.

The Characters
Phenomenal. Every character had such a clear, distinct personality. I loved our heroine — a survivor with grit and fire, never backing down even when the odds were brutal. And Ryan? My toxic, broody, borderline obsessive king. Do I wish his narrator was a smidge more growly? Yes. But am I mad about it? Absolutely not. His intensity still hit, and his moments of quiet possessiveness made me feral.

The Audio Experience
I have to shout out the narrators because they crushed it. The vocal performances were on point — pacing, tone, and emotion matched the story’s dark, unrelenting energy. I was genuinely impressed by how they captured the characters’ personalities and made the tense, primal scenes even more gripping.

If you’re a fan of dark romance audiobooks, the ALC of Massacre Monday is worth it.

Final Thoughts
Massacre Monday is unapologetically dark, twisted, and addictive. Kitty King created a world that feels dangerous, sexy, and downright unhinged — and I’m here for it. If you love:

Stalker romance

Primal hunts

Murder mysteries on college campuses

Cult secret societies

And morally gray characters you’ll fall for against your better judgment
